Know Your Educational Rights

All students in California have the right to a safe, inclusive, and high-quality public education. Families also have important rights when it comes to their child’s education. These include the right to enroll their child in school, access information about their education, have their privacy protected, and be treated fairly and without discrimination. The checklist below from the California Attorney General is designed to provide a clear, accessible overview of these rights. It highlights key protections related to student privacy, access to education, and school safety.

This information is also available in multiple languages, along with additional resources to support families on the Resources for California’s Immigrant Communities website.
