Sowers Middle School Report

Sowers Middle School Interim Principal Mr. Jeff Smith will present updates on the school's program.

Facilities Development Program Update: Studio W Architects

Studio W Architects will present a facilities development status report highlighting Sowers Reconstruction project design, construction, progress, and financial updates as necessary. They will also present updates on the M&O Building and the Bus Storage Facility, funded outside Measure Q.

Process for Filling Board Trustee Vacancy 

On April 2, 2024, Bridget Kaub, representing Trustee Area 1, resigned from the Huntington Beach City School District Board of Trustees, effective June 1, 2024. In accordance with Government Code, the Board shall, within 60 days of the date of filing of the resignation, take one of the following actions:

• Provisionally appoint a new Board member, who will serve until the next election in November 2024.  The appointment process would include public notification of filling the vacancy and an interview process at a future Board meeting.

• Order a special election, which would be consolidated with the general election on November 5, 2024.

If the Board takes no action, the county superintendent will call a special election, which will be consolidated with the general election on November 5, 2024.
At the meeting, the Board of Trustees will choose one of these options to fill the vacancy.
