Peterson Elementary’s garden, known as the Peterson Patch, has a brand-new space for creativity and play, thanks to the vision and dedication of Eagle Scout Nikolai of Boy Scout Troop One. With a special connection to Peterson—his sister being a former student—Nikolai was inspired to give back to a school that had been part of his family’s story.

The idea for the Imagination Playhouse began last year when Peterson PTA garden leads Melanie Zea and Mary Schiesser collaborated with Nikolai to design a safe, accessible, and open structure that allows children’s imaginations to bring it to life in countless ways. After developing detailed plans and navigating multiple rounds of Scout review boards and approvals, Nikolai led the project with precision and determination.
Bringing the concept to reality required three volunteer sessions, during which Nikolai organized a dedicated team of 20 volunteers, including parents and fellow Scouts. Together, they stained and built the redwood structure. His leadership ensured that every step—from cutting and measuring to assembling and finishing—was completed skillfully and efficiently.
