Social-Emotional Screener - Parent/Guardian Information

Beyond just teaching academics, schools can foster students’ development in their relationships, emotional skills, and overall well-being.  Social-emotional skills are critical for students of all ages to succeed academically and in their lives and relationships.  Participation in the 2024-2025 Social-Emotional Screener is available to all Kindergarten through 8th grade students attending HBCSD schools.  

This year, screening will take place during the week of November 4, 2024.   

The use of social-emotional screening tools enables us to:

• Provide data-informed and responsive supports to students to increase positive student outcomes;

• Better inform instruction and guide professional development priorities for teachers, staff, and administrators; and

• Use systems-level data to assess the effectiveness of school systems, practices, and curriculum in meeting students’ social and behavioral needs.

Parents/Guardians who prefer their student not participate in the screener must complete the online Opt-Out Form by 4:00 pm on Friday, November 1, 2024.
