Navigating School Attendance During Illness

Posted Date: 9/18/24 (6:30 PM)

Childhood illnesses are a natural part of growing up, but knowing when to send your child to school can be tricky. We're here to offer guidance so you can make informed decisions:

When to Send Them:

✔️ If They're Feeling Generally Well:

  • When your child is in good spirits and energy.

  • They can participate in their usual daily activities.

✔️ Mild Symptoms? No Problem!

  • A slight cold with a runny nose or cough isn't a roadblock to learning.

  • Eye drainage without fever, pain, or redness? School is still on.

  • Mild stomach ache or a rash with no other symptoms? They're good to go.

✔️ Fever Facts:

  • No fever for 24 hours and no fever-reducing meds? School-bound!

Keep children at home if they are too sick to participate. Please see the chart for more information on when to keep them home.

To keep students healthy and available for learning, prioritize quality sleep, a balanced diet, and regular exercise. Questions about your child's health and school attendance? Reach out; we're here to help!
