Preschool Academy

The Preschool Academy program is designed to invite children into the world of learning using the California Preschool Learning Foundations as a catalyst for growth in all areas – social, emotional, physical, and cognitive. Our goal is to nurture and enrich a child's total development and provide a solid literacy and mathematical foundation to create the building blocks for life-long learning. 

We Believe:

  • Children have enormous potential and curiosity.
  • Children benefit from intentional, age-appropriate instruction.
  • Children deserve a challenging, enriching learning environment.

Below, please find a sample, flexible schedule that allows you to see what a typical day might look like across the program. The children enrolled in the Preschool Academy additionally have access to regularly scheduled library visits and music classes. 

  • First Hour: Circle Time/Stories - Small Groups - Literacy - Science – Art - Math
  • Second Hour: Snack – Music & Movement – Free Choice
  • Third Hour: *Lunch – Outside Play
  • Fourth Hour: Centers - Free Choice Art – Science - Writing

 *Children will bring their own lunches for tuition-based sessions.

HOURS:

All tuition-based sessions begin at 9:00am and end at 1:00pm.

Attendance options include 5, 3 and 2 days a week.

Monday through Friday (5 days)
Monday, Wednesday, Friday (3 days)
Tuesday and Thursday (2 days)

State preschool begins at 9:15am and ends at 12:15pm five days a week. 

The HBCSD Preschool Academy prides itself on preparing and serving snacks that are aligned with all new ​federal and state ​nutritional guidelines.  With childhood obesity and malnutrition both on the rise, it is more important than ever to ensure that we provide nutritionally dense, balanced, and appropriately portioned food for children.  We serve snacks on a daily basis and encourage families to choose and pack nutritionally balanced items for lunch.
